Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps Inc. has decided effective January 1, 2022, to no longer have an explorer post under the traditional explorer post brand of the Boy Scouts of America. Junior membership is for anyone ages 14-21 interested in learning about EMS or wanting to get more experience in the medical field.
Juniors meet the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at 7pm. Advisors are Nancy Reveals, Angela Brooder and Jonathan Hunter. Nancy has been an LVAC member for 45 years and brings a wealth of knowledge to the group. Angela is a Lancaster High School teacher who runs the schools Health Care Academy for the LHS Students. Jonathan is an Elder with his grandfather’s church and is a former member from the explorer post who was elevated to an advisor. The advisors run a combination of classroom, skill demonstrations, hands on learning that make the meetings both fun and educational. As the Juniors progress during their membership time, they are mentored by our staff and get valuable on the job training.
The Juniors are N95 fit tested to wear masks to reduce their exposure to COVID and other various airborne diseases. However, all care is taken to try to keep our Juniors out of harm’s way on calls by our crews.
If you child is interested in more information about the explorers or wishes to join, please reach out to Lead Advisor Nancy Revelas at nancyrevelas@gmail.com or 716-912-1826.
