Class Descriptions:

Community Hands-Only CPR:

In 2016, the NYS Governor passed a requirement that all High School Seniors need to have CPR training prior to graduation from their local high school. We provide (2-4) all day classes, during the school day for students, as needed, usually either in a gym class or health class setting. Students will learn Hands-Only CPR and Basic AED usage.

We’ve assisted the following school districts on a yearly basis:

  • Lancaster High School
  • Depew High School
  • St. Mary’s High School

If your school district would like to set up a session you can contact us at (716)683-3282 ext. 203 or LODonnell@lancasterambulance.org

AHA Training Center:

Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Is an AHA training center that provides the following courses on an as-needed basis:

  • Friends and Family CPR
  • Heart Saver CPR/AED/First Aid
  • BLS Provider CPR

We try to have BLS CPR Class every several months based on the needs of our agency and surrounding agencies. We currently offer these courses in our onsite training room. The Course fees do fluctuate do to AHA training material costs. All courses include AHA manual, exam and certification cards. For information please call (716)683-3282 ext. 203 and our training department will give you the current pricing and next available class.

NYS EMT/CFR Training:

The LVAC teams up with Erie County EMS, who is the official course sponsor and hosts EMT and/or CFR classes on a regular basis. We currently host the EMT Course both in the Spring and Fall. Each class is typically 2-3 days a week based on when the NYS Exam is being offered.

During the course, each student is required to purchase the needed EMT Textbook that the teacher requests and is mandatory if you are an original student to have 100% attendance. Recertification classes consist of a Challenge Exam/practical and based off those 2 testing scores a schedule is built for the student.

Students will learn a variety of topics such as:

  • Scene safety
  • Bloodborne pathogens
  • Legal ethics
  • Medical/trauma emergencies
  • Airway management
  • CPR/AED
  • Splinting
  • and more topics

It is a college-level class and fast paced for adult learners but your instructors will help you learn everything necessary for real life and to pass the NYS Exam. Schedules will be posted here and on our social media pages about 2 months before the start of class. That provides ample time to schedule your personal/work life around the course. CFR courses are offered on an as-needed basis and in other locations through out the county. We do occasionally post them when they are close by or offered by a local fire department/ems agency.

Our 2018 Fund Drive will close out December 31,2018 we are close to reaching our 2018 goal, your support means a lot to the LVAC Membership!
