The Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps (LVAC) will launch an EMS bicycle team, an addition to its emergency ambulance services, at a Health and Safety Exposition on SUNDAY MAY 22, 2011 at 12 PM-5PM at the LVAC Headquarters 40 Embry Place, Lancaster. (off of Walden; one block east of Central Avenue)
“The bike team will be particularly useful at events, like Fourth of July festivities, where LVAC provides EMS service,” said LVAC President Chester Popiolkowski. “The Health and Safety Exposition is a community education opportunity. We welcome families to join us for this special day of important instruction, information and complimentary refreshments.”
Representatives from organizations including Lancaster Fire Department, Baby’s Sweet Beginnings, Lancaster Police Department, Girl Scouts of WNY, The Good Feet Store, Mercy Flight, CSX, US Postal Service, Alzheimer’s Association, Lancaster Public Library, Marshall Electric, Catholic Charities, Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, Victorious BrokenMoms are exhibiting.
LVAC’s explorer post and the EMS bike team will have booths and offer the latest health and safety information. UNYTS will be available with their blood mobile accepting blood donations. LVAC will be holding an auction of gift certificates to raise funds to help replace ambulance radios. For more information, please call 716-713-7449.
LVAC members are New York State certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). Many members are also Advanced EMTs and Paramedics. LVAC annually responds to over 3,300 emergency medical calls in the Town of Lancaster, the Village of Lancaster, and the Village of Depew.
